Can you believe it’s already June? That means there are just a few short weeks until summer officially rolls in, with June 20 being the first day of summer this year. If you’ve been following along with our blogs recently, there’s a pretty good chance that you guessed that we’re pretty excited about summer this year! There’s just something about backyard barbecues and baseball tournaments that we’re huge fans of. After all, who doesn’t love a good cheeseburger and nine innings of rivalry?

When the heat kicks in, it’s tempting to take it easy with a cold, sugary drink and park ourselves in front of the television while we wait for the air conditioning to kick in, but these tips ensure that you get the most out of your summer and best of all is that they’ll help to keep you healthy! Our Favorite Tips to Keep You Healthy This Summer

Take a Walk

Colorado is so full of natural beauty that sometimes it can be hard to miss. As a matter of fact, the neighborhoods we live in can even be enjoyed! Think about it for a second–you drive by the houses on your block every day, but when is the last time you took a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood and actually enjoyed the architecture of the homes on your block? Sure, some of them might not be quite to your taste, but as they say, variety is the spice of life. We couldn’t agree more!

Or, of course, you could also take the dog with you. Your pooch is cooped up far too often and he or she would absolutely love a walk through the neighborhood (or anywhere else if we’re being honest). It’s a great way to get yourself outside and also wear the pup out before he can find something more destructive to do inside.

Mow the Lawn

Mowing the lawn is usually considered a chore. Some people even despise it so much that they’ll hire a lawn mowing company or pay the neighbor kid to handle their mowing for them. But trust us when we say that there’s something about waking up early on the weekends and getting out in front of the day by mowing the lawn.

We can hear it now–”but a lawn mower is way too loud to use first thing in the morning!” You could always opt for an inexpensive push reel mower which has the added benefit of giving your whole body an even better workout in addition to being quiet. In fact, all you’ll hear is the snikt, snikt of the blades chopping the grass. There’s something both peaceful and addictive about mowing your own lawn, so why not get out and give it a try this summer? We think you’ll thank us for the tip.

Try a Hike

Being in Colorado, there are plenty of opportunities for hiking! Whether you visit Horsetooth Reservoir in Fort Collins or spend an afternoon at a State Park, the team at Miramont Wellness Centers wholeheartedly recommends hiking.

Whether you’re a complete amateur or a seasoned professional, finding a hike that challenges you while also allowing you to enjoy the great outdoors is a breeze here in Colorado. It’s still a few months away, but mark your calendar now, because August 25 is the National Park Service’s Birthday and you can get free entrance to any National Park. It doesn’t get much better than that, right?
