“I’m excited to be joining the Miramont team! I’m looking forward to welcoming new patients into the practice and meeting many of the folks who have already established care at Miramont and have learned to trust us in meeting their healthcare needs.”

Dr. Brekhus was raised in Montana and lived many years in Alaska. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Washington in Seattle and went on to medical school at the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Reno. There, he earned a doctorate in medicine graduating with honors as a Medical Doctor (M.D.).

He moved to Denver Colorado after medical school where he completed his internship and residency at the acclaimed residency training center, Mercy Family Medicine Residency Program. He received several awards at Mercy during the three years he spent there in training ultimately graduating with several accolades, to become a board-certified family physician and recognition as a diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Brekhus is comfortable addressing most healthcare matters and enjoys caring for folks of all ages. He is sensitive to the unique needs of people from different cultures and diverse backgrounds. His passion for primary care is easy to see. He believes in the bio/psycho/social and spiritual model of health care that recognizes the role these important domains play in helping us achieve optimal health.

He is dedicated to carrying on the tradition established at Miramont Wellness Centers of providing top-quality, whole-person care for individuals and families in the communities of Fort Collins and Parker Colorado. He also plans to make himself readily available for those patients who wish to access health care services online. He is fully licensed to practice medicine in multiple states, including Colorado, Florida, Texas, and South Dakota.

As a nationally recognized diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine, Dr. Brekhus is uniquely qualified to provide care, through our Direct Health application to any of the millions of folks who live in those four states or who may be visiting those states and find themselves needing access on-line to quality, low-cost health care.

Dr. Brekhus considers Colorado home sweet home. He and his wife Rita live in North Central Colorado not far from their two children, Chloe and Jozen, who are currently pursuing careers in science and medicine. The family loves to spend time together when they can, especially outdoors hiking, biking, fishing and exploring the wilds of Colorado and the wonders of this great country, America the Beautiful.
